Wayne starting painting very young, won his first competition at the Scott county fair
at the age of 12 in 1969
, with a portrait of Jesus.
Considering himself mostly self taught but he has taken a variety instructional art
classes from;

champion, First place and People's choice awards. Bears of blue river festival Grand
Champion and Peoples Choice 1990 and 1991.

Listed in the Marquis Publishers of Who's Who in Americana.
Listed in the new 2009 addition of Hoosier painters of the 21 century.


Some of his favorite artists include Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo &
Theodore Clement Steele.

Wayne's first studio was in Waldron Indiana during the
mid 80"s to the late 90's, where he painted and gave
Painting lessons.

Memberships include several Indiana galleries over the years.

Wayne became a well known portrait artist in early 1990's.
He commissioned portraits from patrons who visited the
Abe Martin Lodge in The Brown County State Park, where
he frequently set up in the lobby to demonstrate his art.

Later he opened a small business in Shelbyville Indiana,
(known as the Cabinet Barn today).Where the latest of his paintings are currently
displayed.

Wayne  can spend hundreds of hours per painting but has
finished a complete portrait in three hours.
It's his way of relaxation and claims painting gives him a sense of
purpose.


Oil paintings created and maintained properly can last hundreds
of years. I would like to think that my paintings will be enjoyed
for many generations.
